Obviously, when you're an automotive company known for making race cars, not street cars, it's no wonder Nobleman Magazine names a new model the best race car.<\/p>\n
Track mentality McLaren 600LT<\/span><\/p>\nThe 600LT Spider simply exudes the philosophy of the Longtail class (that's what "LT" stands for). This translates into increased power, reduced weight, optimized aerodynamics and reduced availability.<\/p>\n
The 600LT Spider is built on the same carbon fiber Monocell II chassis as the coupe. The carbon fiber bodywork improves performance and achieves weight savings. The fixed rear wing accentuates the Longtail's silhouette and, yes, it looks beautiful. But the rear wing isn't just for show (of course), producing 220.5 pounds of downforce at 155 mph.<\/p>\n
The chassis is so well designed and provides excellent rigidity that no additional bracing or reinforcement is required. The roof is a sliding structure, consisting of three parts. It rises or falls at speeds up to 25 miles per hour.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Performance and manageability<\/span><\/h2>\nThe Spider 600LT is powered by the same engine as the coupe, a 3.8-liter V8. The unit develops 592 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. That's where the 600 mark in the model name came from.<\/p>\n
Cornering safety is controlled by a forged aluminum double wishbone suspension system. The effect is complemented by calibrated shock absorbers. McLaren believes that drivers will be very pleased with the improved steering and throttle and brake responsiveness at high speeds. Speaking of cornering and braking, we note. The 600LT Spider is fitted with bespoke Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires.<\/p>\n
<\/span>Prices<\/span><\/h2>\nMcLaren is currently taking orders for the 600LT Spider, which again has limited availability. The starting price of the new redesigned version is $256,500.
