The performance specs for the first Power Stroke diesel engine for the Ford F-150 were announced this year.

«A few years ago, our customers couldn't have imagined that this kind of fuel economy would be possible in a full-size pickup truck,» said Hau Tai-Tan, Ford's executive vice president of product development and purchasing.

Part of the fuel economy comes from the aluminum alloy body, 10-speed automatic transmission and the use of durable materials such as compacted graphite iron in the engine.

The 3.0-liter diesel engine generates 250 horsepower and 596 Nm of torque and provides best-in-class towing.

The 2018 Ford F-150 with the new 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engine will go on sale in May.
