Toyota is looking to advance its autonomous driving initiatives with the formation of a new organization.

Toyota Motor Corporation, Aisin and Denso plan to invest more than 300 billion yen in TRI-AD as the three companies want to finalize discussions on what a specific joint development contract will look like.

Dr. James Kuffner, CEO of TRI-AD, believes that finding the right people for a new company is very important.

“Creating quality manufacturing software is a critical success factor for Toyota's automated driving program,” he explained.

The Toyota Research Institute unveiled the 3.0 platform at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Improvement and optimization

Other goals include creating software for the commercialization of software products while strengthening product development efforts with the help of the Toyota Research Institute, Inc. (TRI).

"TRI, TRI-AD and Toyota Motor Corporation will have a streamlined relationship resulting in a fast and truly integrated development model," Toyota said in a statement.
