In 1909, a factory was opened in the German town of Feuerbach for the production of ignition parts. In the following years, the company began to produce starters, klaxons, turn signals and windshield wipers. Already in 1920 the range of automotive components was significantly expanded, and in 1927 the company began to produce fuel pump with injection for diesel engine of trucks, then - for passenger cars.
The period 1933-1945 was characterized by serious contradictions for Bosch. Some of the employees actively supported the Third Reich, while others strongly rejected it, which created certain development risks before and after the Second World War. To avoid negative consequences in 1937 Robert Bosch changed the form of ownership of the company, transferred from JSC to limited liability company, in order to keep the business for family members. By the end of 1945, almost all production facilities were destroyed, but the founder did not see this, having passed away in 1942.

Bosch's technical achievements in the spare parts industry

In the period from 1946 to 1959 the active phase of development and production of spare parts for automobiles began:
- electronic injection fuel pumps (1967);
- ABS anti-lock braking system, first installed on Mercedes-Benz (1978);
- electronic control unit for diesel engine (1986);
- Blaupunkt TravelPilot navigation systems (1989).
The first modern successes are associated with the development of ESP electronic stabilization, gasoline direct injection system, high-pressure fuel pump, adaptive cruise control, drives for the first electric cars that came off the assembly line in 2010.
At present, this major German company produces almost all groups of auto parts for cars: windshield wipers, batteries, car lamps and filters, spark plugs, brakes, drive belts. The company develops and offers electronic components and accessories, including electric motors for saloons, lighting, and cabin comfort control systems. The range includes gasoline and diesel engines, start/stop systems for micro-hybrid vehicles, steering, starters and generators, and dynamic safety systems.
