This year saw the release of the performance specifications for the first Power Stroke diesel engine for the Ford F-150.

“A few years ago, our customers could not have imagined such fuel savings would be possible in a full-size pickup truck,” said Howe Tai-Tan, Ford's executive vice president of product development and purchasing.

Some of the fuel savings come from the aluminum alloy body, 10-speed automatic transmission, and the use of durable materials such as compacted graphite iron in the engine.

The 3.0-liter diesel engine generates 250 horsepower and 596 Nm of torque and provides best-in-class towing.

The 2018 Ford F-150 will go on sale with the new 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel in May.
