Kia Motors unveiled its new Niro EV at the 2018 Busan International Auto Show today in Korea. In addition to the Niro EV, Kia Motors also unveiled two other vehicles at the Busan International Auto Show. Kia's star at the Busan show, the Niro EV has a unique market position as an all-electric CUV (SUV). Futuristic design inspired by the 2018 Niro EV concept Designed at Kia Design Centers in California, USA and Namyang, Korea, Niro The EV combines the practicality and appeal of a CUV in a sleek, aerodynamic body with subtle sculpted surfaces. Inspired by the Niro EV concept unveiled at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the exterior of the Niro EV is based on the "clean and high-tech" design concept. In profile, a thin character line and tapered rear windows accentuate the car's sleek profile, leaving more room for the Niro EV's wheel arches. At the rear, redesigned rear bumpers have light blue highlights similar to those found at the front of the car, while new LED taillights give the Niro EV its own signature.Kia Niro EV Officially Unveiled at Busan Auto ShowModern Interior with EV-Specific Technologies and Crossover Inside the Niro EV, the cockpit combines modern design with generous space and technology that complements the zero-emission powertrain. The Niro EV features a new mood lighting system, with subtle lighting illuminating both the center console and shifter. The 7.0-inch Niro Touch User Interface (Human Machine Interface) remains at the center of the dash, but has been updated to offer a number of EV-specific features. When Niro was first launched in 2016, its new platform was designed around a variety of advanced powertrains. Its 2,700mm wheelbase ensures all passengers enjoy more legroom, while space and a sense of spaciousness are enhanced by its crossover design. Kia Niro EV Officially Unveiled at Busan Auto Show380km from the next generation all-electric powertrain, the Kia Niro EV has been designed to combine its sporty, crossover-inspired design with long-range, zero-emissions driving capability and enjoyable performance. Powered by a 64 kWh lithium polymer battery, the Niro EV will be able to travel over 380 kilometers (236 miles) on a single charge with zero emissions. Power is delivered to the front wheels via a 150 kW (204 hp) motor that, when spinning, generates 395 Nm of torque, allowing the Niro EV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems In keeping with the nature of the next generation powertrain, Niro EV offers drivers a range of Kia's "Advanced Driver Assistance Systems" to support drivers in a variety of driving conditions and scenarios to reduce the risk of collisions. The active safety systems available on the Niro EV include Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Collision Avoidance, Intelligent Cruise Control with Intelligent Stop & Go and Lane Assist.
