One of the most eye-catching cars at the 2018 New York Auto Show was the Genesis Essentia electric coupe concept car, and now it looks like a limited production vehicle.
With butterfly doors, a carbon fiber body, a see-through hood and blue velvet carpeting, Essentia hit the Big Apple and the big question was: is Genesis going to make this amazing sporty pair?
Motortrend spoke in Detroit with Genesis North America director Erwin Rafael, who said, "We are very committed to Essentia," Rafael said.
The good news is that just about everything about the Essentia sports car is technically feasible, as Global Head CEO Manfred Fitzgerald said earlier.
Peter Schreyer, Hyundai-Kia's chief designer, said butterfly doors could go into production, but it's likely the car will have regular doors.
In addition, the design cues we saw with the Essencia concept will be used in future Genesis models, as we recently saw on the Genesis G80 prototypes.
