The new Kia e-Niro offers owners a range of up to 485 kilometers (301 miles) on a single charge. It will go on sale in Europe at the end of 2018. Kia's first electric crossover e-Niro will be shown at the Paris Motor Show this year.
On the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Car Test Procedure) test cycle, the "urban" e-Niro, powered by a 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, traveled up to 615 km (382 miles). That's further than many petrol cars. When connected to a 100kW fast charger, it takes just 54 minutes to charge the battery pack to the 80%.
The Kia e-Niro crossover will be one of the most "capable" electric vehicles, combining driving pleasure and attractive design with zero emissions. To date, more than 65,000 Kia hybrid crossovers have been sold in Europe.
Models equipped with a 64kWh battery pack are paired with a 150kW motor producing 395Nm of torque, allowing the e-Niro to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.8 seconds.
Kia e-Niro provides owners with a range of technologies to improve battery efficiency and extend vehicle range, including regenerative braking, Coasting Guide Control (CGC) and Predictive Energy Control (PEC). These technologies allow drivers to recharge their battery and maximize the range of their vehicles when driving or braking. CGC and PEC are connected to the navigation system and take into account upcoming turns and topographical changes, which helps the driver save energy.
The Kia e-Niro will come with a 7-year, 150,000-kilometre warranty as standard. The warranty also covers the battery and electric motor.
