The Kia Seltos debuted in June in Delhi, India, but has us wondering if it will ever make it to the U.S. market.
At this time, Kia Motors America has not announced if this SUV will ever be sold in the states. We also got the video thanks to Luis Cisneros, who caught the Kia Seltos on his DVR driving down California roads without any camouflage.
We know that the Kia Seltos has a 1.4-litre turbocharged 1.5-litre diesel engine available in India, but we probably won't see the diesel engine in America yet, so we can probably cross it off the list. Rightfully, we're not sure at 100% what engine options Kia Seltos will have in America, but we're guessing it will be the new Smartstream Gamma2 1.6 turbocharged engine (the same engine found in the new Sonata and Optima) with 180bhp and 27.0kg (195) lb-ft) of torque with the new variable valve duration Continues.
There have been rumours that this model doesn't have a name for the US market yet, as the Seltos is currently named after India. We heard the name Tusker being used a while back, so there is a good chance that this name could be used for the US market. The definition of Tusker is a male elephant or boar with large tusks (long pointed teeth).
We recently received information that Seltos have started production at Kia Motors Manufacturing Alabama with their T1 and T2 levels, these are production cars but they are mainly used for various testing such as crash tests and such.
Can the Seltos stand up to the competition of the very popular KIA Soul square? Would you consider the Kia Seltos for your next purchase?
Stay tuned for more news in the near future.
