The 2021 Land Rover Discovery has been updated and is ready for release in the new model year. The updates include new styling and tech features, as well as an updated wearable activity key (what will they be thinking about next?). Engine and transmission

The trim levels of the 2021 Discovery are positioned in line with the engine and transmission offerings. 2.0LS and 2.0LS R-Dynamic equipped with a 2.0-liter I4 engine with 296 horsepower. 3.0LS R-Dynamic and 3.0L HSE R-Dynamic will be equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 engine with 355 horsepower. The I6 engine also uses a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

While it will have a higher MSRP, the 3.0-liter I6 is attractive in how it uses a range of sensors to distribute torque more strategically between the front and rear axles. This feature is great for off-road or bad weather. In addition, the I6 offers a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds. with the right equipment.

Land Rover's electric vehicle architecture (sometimes seen as "EVA 2.0") is at the heart of the 2021 Discovery. The platform provides the electrical architecture for numerous technical features and connectivity options and serves as a rigid base for towing and off-road use.

Exterior style and design

LED headlights and daytime running lights complement the redesigned front bumper and new side vents. Signature LED taillights and glossy black panels grace the rear of the 2021 Discovery. Meanwhile, the R-Dynamic model is more visible with its Gloss Black and Shadow Atlas exterior accents and two-tone leather with contrast stitching on the inside.

Technology and Connectivity

The list of technical features is everything you would expect, and maybe even a little more this time around. Land Rover says the Pivi Pro infotainment system has a new simplified menu and faster response times, even when the Discovery is first launched. Two LTE modems are built into the vehicle to enable media streaming and wireless updates.

With the interactive display, drivers can take advantage of things like high-definition 3D maps in the instruments while leaving the central touchscreen free to control other applications. All digital gauges can be configured to display a pair of conventional dials, a full-screen 3D navigation guide, or a combination of the two. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth are standard. A color warning display is optional.

2021 Land Rover Discovery Interior

The Discovery 2021 provides a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot that can hold eight devices, USB-A charging ports, and tablet holders for rear passengers. Moving the second-row vents from the B-pillars to the center console creates more airflow, and an interior air ionizer is optional. Upgraded second-row seats with thicker cushions provide improved lateral and hip support, which is nice for long rides.

The 2021 Land Rover Discovery is as versatile and flexible as it gets. The Gesture's hands-free tailgate is convenient when you're carrying a large box or bags of groceries. Just step up, wave your foot under the rear bumper and off you go. When the tailgate is up, drivers can secure their load using the tailgate's internal restraints. If you need more space, open the second and third rows. When folded, the new Discovery offers 74.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

Price and release date

2021 Discovery pricing starts at $53,900 for 2.0LS and 2.0LS R-Dynamic from $56,400 . 3.0LS R-Dynamic pricing starts at $61,900 , and 3.0L HSE R-Dynamic from $68,900 . Expect the new Land Rover Discovery to arrive by the end of 2020.

2021 Land Rover Discovery Warranty

Land Rover offers one full extended warranty up to 10 years or 150,000 miles, depending on vehicle model and age. Instead of having a separate bumper-to-bumper warranty and transmission, Land Rover combines both into one plan.
